IN MY DOC’S: ROSS

We love to shine a spotlight on the talented and interesting individuals who work in our stores and head office because they’re the ones who really ‘live’ the rebellious, unique Dr. Martens brand… and know how to seriously rock a pair of Doc’s of course.

Meet Ross, drummer and Dual Site Manager of our Stratford and Wembley stores. We spoke to him to find out more about his relationship with Dr. Martens, and talk all things music…

Introduce yourself:
I’m Ross, Dual Site Manager of Stratford & Wembley. Outside of Doc’s I’m also a session drummer and play for a number of different bands from Indie Pop to Hardcore. I’ve always loved drumming and have been playing since a very young age. I’ve been lucky enough to play at Glastonbury & Reading last year and toured with Panic! At The Disco.

What are you wearing in your photo?
I’m wearing the Bailey Stussy Creeper. By far my favourite shoe of last season. I’m buzzing I managed to get hold of a pair.

Tell us about your first Dr. Martens:
My first pair of DM’s was a pair of Afflecks. I was fairly late to the DM’s life having only got them about 6 years ago. I’ve still got them now and they look awesome having taking a few years of beating. They were pretty tough to begin with.

How would you describe your individual style?
I’d say it’s somewhere between ‘mosher’ and street style. The majority of the time I’ll stick to black but on the right occasion I’ll wear a bit of colour. I only really wear band t-shirts with the sleeves cut off. All my staff find it odd when they see me with my arms covered!

List three tracks you can’t get enough of:
1. ‘Hologram’ – by Northlane
2. ‘Two Summers’ – by Every Time I Die
3. ‘Rotten’ – by The Naked And Famous

What’s your favourite thing about the city you live in?
My favourite place to eat has to be Blanchette’s on D’Arlby Street in Soho. It’s got great tunes, great staff and the best whisky sours around. What I love about London is that you can find the most amazing places on the tiniest little streets that at first may look like there’s nothing there at all.

What are your top 3 DM’s picks for this season?
1. My number one by far is the Beavis & Butthead collaboration. I was a massive fan when I was younger and I think all the products look amazing.
2. I love the new Carpathian Church Boot.
3. I’m also a big fan of the Ember boot, it’s probably one of the most comfortable shoes I own.

If you could have any super-power, what would it be?
Teleportation – Imagine on your day off just thinking ‘maybe I’ll go check out the Bahama’s today’ and then, zip, your there, chilling on a beach for your day off. That’s the dream.

And finally, what do you stand for?
I stand for working hard and playing harder. Giving everything you’ve got and then some. There’s always time, so make the most out of the time you’ve got.
