ONE BOOT THREE WAYS: THE CARMELITA

To say the Carmelita is a unique boot is an understatement. People’s reactions to this style are visceral, which is just what we hope for when we built it. The thick sole and aggressive tread are a nod to our iconic boots, while the soft leathers and chunky heel offer comfort and support for a look that can be worn all day and into the night. We recently asked our Dr. Martens Studio City Store staff in LA to show us how they wear their Carmelita’s. Here’s what they said.

How would you describe your style in general?
I feel that personal style is ever changing, so I dress depending on my mood. My style is meant to bring out the best version of myself. I want to appear approachable and sweet and tough and powerful all at the same time.

How do the Carmelita’s fit with your style and how did you style your Carmelitas?
The Carmelita encompass everything I want to be in the package of a super comfy heeled boot. When I’m wearing them I feel powerful and versatile. This boot elevates even the simplest look and it’s the most comfortable heel. I wanted to keep this look neutral, so I paired denim shorts and a white top, but with a pop of color to complement the boots’ unexpectedness. Plus, the shorts help show off how strong the heels makes my calves look. This boot fits all my moods. I always want to feel put together and beautiful, and I want people to ask me what I’m wearing so I can blow their minds when I say, ‘Dr. Martens’.

OLIVIA D’ORAZI

Studio City Supervisor, Olivia pairs her DM heels with vintage and DIY pieces to complement her bohemian style.

How would you describe your style in general?
My style is very late 60s/ early 70s. Think Beatles girlfriend meets hippie bohemian chic. I’m heavily influenced by the music of those eras and it is evident in all my outfits. My style icon is Keith Richards, so dreamy! I studied fashion in California and England so I think my style merges the two unique aesthetics from both places. Most of my pieces are vintage that I’ve picked up from my travels or super groovy treasures my hippie mom has passed down to me.

How did you style your Carmelita’s?
The Carmelita definitely has a 70’s rock n roll influence to it, so it fits perfectly with my style. I went for a Stevie Nicks-esque look today. I styled my Carmelita‘s with my favorite beige suede skirt that I got from a vintage shop in London. For my top I wore a kimono from my clothing line which features my artwork as the print. And to top it all off a hat my friend just gifted me!

SARA DOBBS

The black leather Carmelitas add a modern twist to Studio City Sales Associate, Sara’s classic leopard and denim mash-up.

How would you describe your style in general?
My style is a blend of hard rock and grunge elements like denim, leather, and plaids in feminine silhouettes. My look has always been heavily influenced by my favorite bands and artists, taking elements from the last five decades to produce an aesthetic that feels both old and new.

How do the Carmelita fit with your style and how did you style your Carmelitas?
The Carmelita is a perfect addition to my wardrobe because of it’s versatility. I can pair them with a pretty sundress, or with ripped jeans and a band tee to add a polished twist without losing any edge. I styled mine with a leopard print maxi and a vintage denim jacket for a warm weather look for day or night wear. I like how sturdy and comfortable the Carmelita is! I tend to avoid heels as a rule, but I can wear these all day at work straight through the evening. I love the chic, sexy cut.
