BEN ESQUEDA (@BENPORFAVOR) STYLES THE 1461
You may know Ben Esqueda on Instagram as @benporfavor … but we know Ben as a San Diego native with slick James Dean hair. And whether he’s rocking vintage streetwear or a pair of plaid pants, Ben has mastered the art of putting together an effortless look — which is why we asked him to pair our 3-eye 1461s with his signature low-key but on point style.
Introduce yourself.
Hi! My name is Ben Esqueda, I’m originally from San Diego and am now living in Los Angeles. I do a mix of things, but as of right now I am a social media entrepreneur. As a kid, I always dreamed of being an actor. I’ve been slowly but surely moving forward with acting and trusting in the process and it has been one of the most exciting things in my life.
Tell us about the looks you styled with the 1461.
I chose these three looks to go with the 1461s, because the second I put them on my feet I felt a vintage vibe. I decided to pair them up with three fits that felt unique but still true to my style. With the black long sleeve and striped pants, I channeled a Barcelona feel — while the checkered print brought the late 70s to life. And finally, I paired them with a hoodie and cords for a relaxed look. Each pant is rolled up a bit to show off white socks with the Docs.
Tell us about your first pair of Docs.
My first pair of Docs were the 1460s in black. I got them when I was in middle school and wore them almost every day; they lasted so long! The only reason I stopped wearing them was because my feet finally grew and I no longer fit in them.
What inspires you lately?
I have always been inspired by multiple people but recently, I chose to look at things differently and be my own inspiration and motivation. Everyone’s story is different and everyone is going at a different pace in life; sometimes it can be unhealthy to compare your life and your being to someone else.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
I couldn’t live without my family and best friends. These individuals have helped me tremendously and sculpted me into the human I am today. I can easily say thanks to them I have become 100% comfortable in my skin and able to pursue my dreams.
What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to?
My favorite place I have traveled to is Georgetown, DC. It is such a hip town that makes me feel so giddy. It reminds me of the perfect hometown movie scene. Honestly, it is such a dream.
What’s the first concert you attended?
Childish Gambino. I remember you could feel his emotion through his lyrics, and he had by far the best effects on stage that I have ever seen.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I have a newfound love of poetry. I picked up my first poetry book back in October and it instantly set my heart on fire. Over the next few months, I bought an excessive amount of poetry books, and eventually bought my own journal and started to create my own poetry with my own stories. I just finished writing my first poetry book that will be coming out in the near future. Discovering my love for poetry has formed me into the human I am today — I’m so excited for the world to read my imagination and art.
