IN MY DOC’S: BRIDGETTE ROBLES

We love to shine a spotlight on the very cool people who work in our stores and head office because they’re the ones who ‘live’ the rebellious, unique Dr. Martens brand… and know how to seriously rock a pair of Doc’s of course.

Meet Bridgette Robles, our Associate Product Manager from our Portland HQ. We caught up with her to find out which Dr. Martens shes gifting this holiday season, and found out about her collection of 70+ pairs of  Doc’s. Read more below…

Introduce yourself.
Hiya!! I’m Bridgette, Associate Product Manager for The Americas. In total, I’ve been with Dr. Martens for over 12 years. I worked here for about 5 years left for a bit, and have been back for over 7 years.

I‘m originally from Northern California; I was born in the Bay Area but was raised in a really small-unincorporated community along the Russian River called Villa Grande. The Pacific Northwest has been my home for almost 18 years now, and Dr. Martens was the only place I wanted to work when I moved to Oregon.

Tell us about the boots you’re wearing.
My Lazy Oaf Jungle Boots and my Kendras! The Jungle boots are a little rebellious, a little humorous, but together, made my season favorite. I just love the detailing and they are really comfortable. The Kendra is my new, fancy favorite. Even though you can mostly find me in a pair of heels from the Seirene Collection throughout the year, I really love the fresh spin on the grey outsole and the patent is perfect for the season.

Tell us about your Dr. Martens collection:
I don’t even know how many I have, the last time I actually took the time to count was about 10 years ago and there were around 70 in my “active” wardrobe while others were packed away. While my go-to pair changes, anything from Seirene and anything in black are in constant rotation. The most unique pair I own would definitely be the ones I’ve customized myself. I’ve put trims on some, gems on others, and of course, glittered a few!

How would you describe your style?
It depends on the day. Maybe a little Boho Rocker, if that’s a thing. Some days I love all black, some days I love all the vibrant pretty colors, but mostly I love beautiful textures and special details.

Which pair of Dr. Martens are you gifting this holiday season?
I enjoy gifting items that they normally wouldn’t pick for themselves but could definitely rock. Telling you exactly what I’ll be gifting would ruin the surprise, but I can tell you it will include the Kids Delaney Glitter boot. I recently gifted a pair from DM’s Lite to my brother and Magdalena for my niece.

I love that we truly represent individuality and our customers have such a connection to their boots and shoes; everyone is always happy to tell a story about ‘em.

Tell us about your first pair of Dr. Martens.
Ah, my first was a used pair of 1460 Black Smooth that were too small for me but I had to have them! It was all about baby doll dresses and boots in the ’90s and sometimes you do crazy things in the name of fashion. My friends and I would drive to San Francisco and hang out on Haight and all the cool people were wearing them, so we felt super cool in our Doc’s.

What do you love most about working for Dr. Martens?
I love the brand and the product! I love that we truly represent individuality and our customers have such a connection to their boots and shoes; everyone is always happy to tell a story about ‘em. I’ve also made some really great friendships over boots including the sweetest boyfriend ever (my sole mate, haha).

What do you love most about Portland?
There are so many things but mostly that this amazing city has pretty much everything anyone would want. We are so close to the mountains and the ocean, and we have access to great vegan food.
