IN MY DOC’S: MAYU MIURA
We love to shine a spotlight on the very cool people who work in our stores and head office because they’re the ones who ‘live’ the rebellious, unique Dr. Martens brand… and know how to seriously rock a pair of Docs of course.
Meet Mayu Miura, from our Merchandising team in Japan. We spoke with her to find out more about her relationship with Dr. Martens, music and what she’s listening to…

For those who don’t know, what’s your name and where do you come from?
My name is Mayu Miura. I’m in the Merchandising team at Dr. Martens Japan. I worked at Dr. Martens Aoayama Store before I joined DMJ. I play the synthesizer and take a chorus part in a band. I used to play Trumpet at Junior High school also; I really enjoy music.
What Dr. Martens shoes are you wearing in your photo?
I’m wearing Adrian Tassel loafer. These shoes are my favourite. I love the tassel detail so much that I have just bought the second pair.
Tell us about your first Dr. Martens:
My first pair was the 1460 boot in purple. I bought these when I was a high school student. I didn’t have to wear school uniforms then, so I was wearing 1460s everyday.

How would you describe your style?
I like simple and monochrome and androgynous. Also, I love the traditional Japanese clothing ‘Kimono’. Japanese patterns are also lovely.
List three tracks you can’t get enough of:
1. Syd the kid – Treading Water
2. GABA – Mr. Jack Lennon – This is my friend’s band!
3. Tennis – Never Work For Free

What’s your favourite thing about the city you live in?
I was born in Tokyo. My favourite place is Koenji. There are many many vintage clothing stores and variety stores here, which are a lot of fun. I often see vintage Dr. Martens shoes and boots in vintage clothing stores here.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would like to meet the actor Morgan Freeman. He’s an excellent performer and I love him in the movie ‘The Shawshank Redemption’.

What are your top three product picks this season?
1. The Coralia boot – Velcro straps make it so easy to put on and take off.
2. The Made in England Denim Pascal – The denim design is very cool!
3. The Oriana sandal – I love pointed shoes.
And finally, what do you stand for?
Music. Fashion. Drinking with Friends.
