In My Docs gives a platform to the people who work in our stores and offices all over the world. They give us a glimpse of life in their city, as well as some serious fashion inspiration. This is what the Docs lifestyle looks like.
My name is Vincent. I’m 24 and currently work as a sales assistant at the Dr. Martens store in Lyon, France. I really like working for a company where I can be myself. Films and music are two of my big passions. I spent a lot of time in cinemas as a kid, getting inspired. And I studied film-making when I was younger.
What Docs are you wearing in your photo?
Tell us about your first Dr. Martens:
My first pair of Docs were black 1460 boots I got from a cousin to wear to a rock concert. I was around 13 years old.
How would you describe your style?
Very simple – though I have to admit I work on the simplicity. So it’s mostly Levis and an oversized shirt or sweater. Looking effortless is as much about the attitude as the clothes.
What 3 songs are you listening to right now?
‘A Rush and a Push and the Land is Ours’, The Smiths
‘Episode’, John Maus
‘Pain’, Boy Harsher
What’s your favourite thing about Lyon?
This city is really important to me – it’s powerful and inspiring. Lyon is one of the greatest cities in France and is definitely worth checking out. It’s beautiful and full of interesting people and alternative places to hang out. There are so many incredible restaurants and bars where you can discover local cuisine and local beers. My favourite place to dance and discover new alternative groups in live shows is Sonic. I usually grab a beer after work at the Trokson and listen to music in the bar. The Comoedia cinema is one of the best independent cinemas in the city, where you can engage in real discussion after a film.
What Docs are your current favourites?
What do you stand for?
I stand for equality and the right to love. It’s great to see how things can change in a good way. I believe in art and pushing the limits of my imagination. And I believe in friendship, which is very important to me. This is why I love my Dr. Martens team and my work so much. Come see us in Lyon. See how we rock our Docs.
