DR. MARTENS CUSTOMIZATION TOUR KICKOFF

We’re hitting the road for an 8-stop customization tour across America, with a lineup of eight artists coming from a variety of backgrounds. Their mission: to create one-of-a-kind boots and shoes for Dr. Martens customers.

To kick-off the Dr. Martens Customization Tour, we threw a party at our favorite New York City venue, Baby’s All Right. Drinks were flowing all night while guests enjoyed music by Charly Bliss, browsed a gallery of artwork from our tour artists, and had their Doc’s customized by the likes of NYC artists Chris Uphues, Anka Lavriv, and The Griggs Brothas.

When guests entered the party, they got a sneak peek of what’s in store for the Dr. Martens Customization Tour. An “art gallery” displayed each of the eight artists’ custom pair of 1460s.

Anka Lavriv co-owns Black Iris Tattoo in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and specializes in incredibly detailed designs. She spent the night drawing fine-lined snakes, crystals, and more on guests’ boots. NYC artist Chris Uphues worked alongside Anka, painting Doc’s with his signature mischevious hearts in bold colors.

There was plenty of familiar faces in attendance, including men’s fashion bloggers Marcel Floruss and Justin Livingston. Marcel opted to have Anka draw a snake on his black 1460s.

New York-based fashion bloggers Nicole Alyse and Rachel Iwanyszyn (of Jaglever) were also in attendance.

Guests arrived in style, showcasing their eclectic collection of Doc’s, including these cheetah print 1460s.

While Anka and Chris worked on people’s Doc’s, The Griggs Brothas created custom embroidered totes for partygoers. The twin brothers are known for creating personalized clothing with their unique embroidery.

Charly Bliss paused backstage for a quick photo before their performance.

They entertained the crowd with an energetic set and played hits from their latest album, Guppy.

Becca McCharen-Tran, CEO and Head Designer of Chromat, and her wife, Christine McCharen-Tran, took a snap of their new boots painted by Chris Uphues. Becca is no stranger to custom Doc’s; earlier this month she put her own spin on our Jagger boots for her FW18 collection at NYFW.

In true New York fashion, the party lasted well into the night. If you missed out, don’t worry, the tour is just getting started…
