DR. MARTENS PRESENTS: DAVE B.
Dr. Martens Presents went to Seattle where hip hop artist Dave B performed at our 4th Ave store. The Seattle crowd was hyped for the artist whose first drop, Tomorrow, injected a much-needed fresh voice into the Seattle music scene. According to NPR’s First Listen, the album is cool and grey, just like Dave B’s hometown. For this show, he brought his chill beats and thoughtful lyrics to the stage where a packed crowd sang along. Tell us about the most rebellious thing you’ve ever done.
I’d probably say dropping out of school and becoming a rapper.
What song do you have on repeat lately?
What was the first concert you attended?
I think it was Beyoncé at the Key Arena. I’ll never be the same.
Tell us about your first pair of Docs.
I actually borrowed them from some guy in high school on a snow day and never gave them back. They were just the classic black 1460s but I couldn’t tell you where they are now —that was so long ago.
Where do you go in Seattle to find inspiration?
I’m good for some different viewpoints and parks that a lot of people don’t frequent. Obviously, I can’t tell you exactly where they are, though.
Do you remember the first rap you wrote?
Damn, I had to be in like 5th grade and all I know is that it was trash. This is also around when Bow Wow was poppin’… so there’s that.
