Leven Kali is a special breed of musician. Born in Holland and raised in Santa Monica, the multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer/songwriter has an incredibly fresh sound that sits somewhere on the spectrum between neo-funk, soul and R&B. The result? A Drake-approved, psychedelic groove that feels a bit like Stevie Wonder on acid. It’s addictive; at least, that’s what it was like at our Silver Lake store last Thursday, when (seemingly) all of LA came out to witness Leven doing his thing — keep scrolling for the photo evidence, plus a quick Q & A with the artist (like what Prince song he’s got on repeat …).
