The STAND FOR SOMETHING Tour is back. This year we’re hitting up London, Manchester and Glasgow, and bringing some of the UK’s hottest talent with us to three of the UK’s biggest cities for disruptive, secret shows. Kicking things off for us here in Camden, Yxng Bane headlines the first live show.
Few artists in the next wave of future stars stand out as much as East London’s Yxng Bane, whose genre hopping Afrobashment has a truly global sound. Having just sold out his headline show at Omera, London, he’s in high demand. With two more special guests set to play, and still to be announced, SFS 2017 is promising to be one of the strongest years yet.
Complex spoke to Yxng Bane ahead of his Camden performance:
How important is it for you to stand out from the crowd?
I think it’s more of a natural thing; you should always just be yourself. If you try and stand out specifically, you probably won’t stand out. We’ll just go out there and be ourselves and that’s how I try to be—with everything.
And finally, what do you stand for?
I stand for growth, life is a cycle that’s ongoing. So for me, everyday is a challenge to be better than yesterday, whether it’s your personal attributes, your outfit at the last party or whatever. It just needs to be better.
