The Dr. Martens Presents Tour is heading to the Windy City for back to back shows. First up, Chicago-natives, Twin Peaks, are playing a free DJ set at Dr. Martens State Street on October 19 (next week, Kweku Collins). Jack Dolan, bassist and vocalist of Twin Peaks, shared the band’s favorite Chicago bars, talked about their ongoing singles project, and the band’s plans for New Year’s Eve.

You’ve been working on “Sweet ‘17 Single Series,” what inspired you to start this project?

We started this project as a way to connect with our fans and bring them new music monthly in between our regular record cycles. It’s kind of a win-win situation. We have a lot of fun with it and the fans don’t have to wait for a new record to get recorded, pressed, promoted, distributed, etc. The music just keeps coming.

What is your favorite bar or place to hang in Chicago?

The Montrose Saloon has been our spot for a while. These days it’s Rainbo Club, Cole’s, and Longman & Eagle on Mondays for $1 beers. Cadien (vocals and guitarist) loves Parson’s Chicken & Fish, he eats there a couple times a week I think.

What are 3 tracks you can’t get enough of right now?

Get In My Car by BRONCHO
Suffer Me by Sheer Mag
Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man

Tell us about your first pair of Dr. Martens.

I still have the pair of Doc’s we got at SXSW like three years ago. They’re nice. They’re classy but strong enough to put up with me for three years and still look good.

What’s next for your band?

We’re doing three nights at Thalia Hall for New Year’s Eve so we’re really looking forward to that. Other than that, hopefully doing a lot more recording in our new studio next year and touring a bunch. It really never stops for us.
