After exploding onto the London scene in 2015, five-piece punk rock band Counterfeit. have recently announced their next musical offering, in the form of new single You Can’t Rely, which is taken from their debut album Together We Are Stronger – full of punk-rock flair, showcasing front-man Jamie’s raw and honest vocals.
Counterfeit. are gearing up for their biggest show yet – supporting Don Broco at London’s legendary Alexandra Palace, on Saturday 11th November. They’ve recently wrapped up a European and UK headline tour, including a riotous set at Camden’s Underworld and have also been playing a string of festivals around Europe. As well as hitting European territories, Counterfeit. performed at Slam Dunk Festival in the UK for the first time and have just made their debut at the renowned Reading and Leeds Festival. We caught up with the boys to see whats going on in the wonderful world of Counterfeit…
For those who don’t know Counterfeit., how would you sum yourselves up in a sentence?
Guitar driven rock music with a punk ethos.
This was the last song we wrote for Together We Are Stronger. The track focuses on the darkness that seems to weigh heavy on us as a band and the need to rise above it all. Having been able to play this track across our headline tour and festival run this summer we’re honoured to be able to unleash this and give it to the world. Counterfeit’s Jamie Bower
Can you talk us through your latest single ‘You Can’t Rely’?
It’s about the feeling of coming to terms with the realisation that expectation inherently has flaws that will flip everything on its head at some point in time. It’s a ticking time bomb.
Tell us about your first Dr. Martens:
(Jamie) My first pair of Dm’s were these limited edition maroon canvas boots and I instantly fell in love with them. I still have them to this day and I wear them on very special occasions, strong boots.

What’s your favourite thing about the city you live in?
Diversity and multi-culturalism.
You’ve wrapped up your UK/EU tour and are set to play Alexandra Palace this November – what else can we expect to see from Counterfeit. this year?
We’re heading out to Russia a few days after that show, it’s our first time out there! On our return we’ll be in lockdown writing the new record.
What advice would you give someone trying to break into your industry?
Work hard, work smart, keep at it, don’t take no for an answer. If you believe in it enough someone else is bound too as well. Have courage in your convictions. Counterfeit. stands for acceptance and understanding and unity through diversity.
