DR. MARTENS SPEAKS TO KOMAKINO

Dr. Martens boots and shoes have been seen across runways during New York Men’s Collections. We caught up with a few of the exciting designers and creative directors stirring up the fashion industry and asked them about their new lines and their personal relationships with Dr. Martens. Here we spoke to Komakino to find out about their AW16 collection that was styled with Dr. Martens.

Tell us about your first pair of Dr. Martens.
In Italy where I grew up, I must have been 12 or 13 years old, I had the classic black 1460 boot. I painted bands logos on the ankles (Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy as far as I remember). I wore them till they fell apart but I think I still have them somewhere.

Can you tell us a bit about your new looks and why you chose to incorporate Dr Martens into your show for NYFW?
Dr. Martens is always in the DNA of our label. Underground youth subcultures, music and Dr. Martens; all together it makes sense.

What do you stand for?
The grown up kid in the corner.
