DR. MARTENS X HENDER SCHEME
Our highly anticipated collaboration with Hender Scheme has launched. In our first collection with the pioneering Japanese brand, founder and Creative Director Ryo Kashiwazaki has reworked our iconic 1461 shoe. This limited-edition creation sees Hender Schemes’ renowned minimalist style fused with a traditional DM’s silhouette.
Kashiwazaki’s philosophy that what he creates should age in harmony with its wearer is reflected in his use of Natural Veg Tan leather. He believes that happiness is found in life’s imperfections — a Japanese concept known as ‘Wabi Sabi’. The celebrated shoemaker values authenticity. Kashiwazaki sees ‘wear and tear’ as a visual representation of the wearers personality and character.
Made in England at our original Wollaston factory, this one-off collection is a fusion of both brands’ authentic shoemaking heritage. Transformed with a standout kiltie fringe in Hender Schemes’ signature Natural Veg Tan leather, this limited edition 1461 shoe is finished with a matching leather AirWair heel loop, yellow stitching and comes with a branded kiltie wallet.
