In our new conversation series ‘5 Minutes With…’, we chat style, culture, influences and, of course Docs, with creatives who are shaking up the scene. From musicians and artists to tattooists and change-makers, we get under the skin of the exciting characters wearing Dr. Martens.
Here, we’re talking to Theo from Nottingham indie band King Nun, who will soon be taking to the stage as part of our eight days of music and talent at Dr. Martens Presents. You can catch King Nun playing in our Dr. Martens store in Newcastle on 8th November.
Theo from King Nun:
1. What’s your pre-gig ritual?
We have a chant designed to prepare us for the worst and big us up for our best. But it’s very secret.
2. If you could play a gig with anyone dead or alive who would it be?
It would have to be Michael Stipe because his work never ceases to amaze and inspire me.
3. What’s the most rebellious thing you’ve ever done?
I refuse to properly answer this question.
4. Favourite venue?
The only real venues I’ve ever been to are the ones we’ve played. So I’ve never really seen any from the perspective of the audience. Judging exclusively from our experience playing there, Shepherd’s Bush Empire was a dream. It was a great show with a wonderful audience and the load in and out weren’t so bad either. That right there is my pick.
5. Tell us about your favourite pair of Docs. What would your dream pair of Docs look like?
I like the ones that go up to your knees (like the 14-eye 1914) because I get cold legs. My dream pair of Docs would be a boot-trouser hybrid that would keep me warm in winter. And they’d have spikes all over them.
You can be in with the chance to see King Nun here.
