IN MY DOC’S: AIME

We love to shine a spotlight on the very cool people who work in our stores and head office because they’re the ones who ‘live’ the rebellious, unique Dr. Martens brand… and know how to seriously rock a pair of Docs of course.  
 
Meet Aime, artist and store manager at our Utrecht and Amsterdam stores. We spoke with her to find out more about her relationship with Dr. Martens, and what she’s currently listening to.

Introduce yourself:
My name is Aime and I am the Store Manager in our Utrecht store as well as the brand new store in the 9 streets in Amsterdam. I am an artist and I work mainly on moving sculptures as a medium. 
 
What Dr. Martens product are you wearing in your photo?
I am wearing one of my favourites this season the Holly in patent leather. Love the chunky-ness, the big lace laces on them and the shiny patent leather!

Do you remember your first pair of Dr. Martens?
My first pair of docs where the always-classic 1460 black smooth, I got them in the Dr.Martens store in Shibuya. I remember it took a couple of days to break them in and since then they’ve been with me on many adventures. I recently bought the Made in England version. Since then the collection has grown and grown. 
 
What are your top three product picks this season?
1. The Holly shoe, you can never go wrong with a platform.
2. The 1460 lake blue soft buck boot, this new version of the 1460 in suede is just amazing
3. The 1460 white smooth boot

How would you describe your style?
My style is always changing; I love prints and colour but I also love a good pair of good jeans and a nice dress. I guess it will be something like a colourful (but sometimes not) ever-changing rollercoaster. If I like it I will wear it. 
 
What are some tracks you’re listening to right now?
I always seem to listen to complete albums more than a song in particular. At this moment my top ones are:
1. David Bowie – The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
2. Bob Marley – Survivor
3. The Stone Roses – The stone Roses
4. Frank Zappa – Hot Rats
5. The Beatles – Revolver

What’s your favourite thing about the city you live in?
I currently live in Amsterdam and I love the size of the city, you can go from one side to the other one with your bicycle! It’s very charming with beautiful architecture. I love the multiculturalism of this place and the different people that flock to this city. 
 
And finally, what do you stand for?
Freedom, equality, happy children, respect, love.
