Introduce yourself: 
I go by the name of Rickstar. I am artist and singer from London now living in Los Angeles and working at the Dr. Martens Santa Monica store. I’ve performed in groups/bands and as a solo artist since I was a kid. I’ve released a few songs and have a new EP on the way. 
 
Which Dr. Martens are you wearing now: 
I am wearing the Jadons, which are one of my favorite styles this season. The double sole adds a little more height, plus the gold eyelets really stand out. I’ll be perfect for performances. 
 
Tell us about your first pair of Dr. Martens: 
My first pair were the black patent leather 1460s in London when I was a teenager. I was, and am, really into the R&B groups of the 90’s like Jodeci and TLC and wanted to replicate those looks. Most people don’t think of R&B when they think of Docs, but they’re not just for punks. 
 
Tell us about your style: 
My style is very eclectic. Some days it’s all 90’s throwback and others it’s straight up punk. Like I said, I take a lot of inspiration from 90’s R&B, but some days I add a little Lenny Kravitz or James Dean style. Being a solo artist now, I like to stand out. What’s Your Favourite Thing About the City You Live In? 
In LA it’s all about the heat, the parties, and the amazing variety of talented people. 
 
What are your top three picks this season? 
The 939 Ben Boot.
Jadon Boots – obviously.
And of course my black 1460s, which I wear nearly everyday. 
 
What do you stand for? 
I stand for individuality and being a rebellious soul.
