IN MY DOC’S: SAKI

We love to shine a spotlight on the very cool people who work in our stores and head office because they’re the ones who ‘live’ the rebellious, unique Dr. Martens brand… and know how to seriously rock a pair of Doc’s of course.

Meet Saki, our Marketing Assistant at Dr. Martens Japan.  We caught up with her to find out more about her style inspiration, love for Tokyo and of course everything Doc’s below…

Hey Saki, can you introduce yourself for our readers?

My name is Saki Ito and I’m a Marketing Assistant at Dr. Martens, Japan. I studied Fashion at university here in Tokyo, and I’ve previously written articles for online fashion magazines. Some of my favourite things to do are being creative, taking trips overseas, watching movies, listening to music, dancing and partying with my friends.

Which Dr. Martens are you wearing in your photo?

I’m wearing the Edison shoe, which is part of the DM’s LITE range. It’s a super lightweight evolution of the classic Dr.Martens Adrian tassel loafer. One of my favourite shoes.

D you remember your first pair of Dr. Martens?

My first pair of Doc’s were a vintage pair of 1460 boots, which I bought about 4 years in a vintage shop in London. I wore them almost everyday on my trip. I love the vintage vibe that the streets of London have to offer.

How would you describe your style?

I’d say my style is street and chic. I like mixing basic clothes with a vintage bag, for example, or an accessory from my mom. My friends are literally one of my biggest style inspirations. Oh, and the girls of Quentin Tarantino’s films too.

What are the three tracks you can’t get enough of right now?

  1. April March – Garcon Glacon

  1. Jesus and Mary Chain – Just Like Honey

  1. New Order- Age of Consent

What’s your favourite thing about city you live in?

I was born and raised in Tokyo, and I still can’t  get enough of the night view. My favourite film, Lost in Translation, by Sofia Coppola taught me attractiveness of the Tokyo night scene – I would have never noticed it in my life if it wasn’t for her. But I’d have to say the Japanese food is my favourite thing about living in Tokyo. It’s best food in the world in my opinion.

I’d like to meet Kate Moss and get drunk with her.

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

I’d like to meet Kate Moss and get drunk with her.  I think I would ask her, “What are your biggest troubles in life?”.  She’s my rock ’n’ roll star haha. Actually,  her style has always inspired me.

What are you top three picks this season?

  1. 1460 Soft Buck in Indigo
  2. 1461 Ghillie
  3. Pascal Metallic

And finally, what do you stand for?

Friends. Love. Family. Ramen. Passion. Good vibes. Nature.  Music. Beer.
