IN MY DOC’S: SALOME
We love to shine a spotlight on the very cool people who work in our stores and head office because they’re the ones who ‘live’ the rebellious, unique Dr. Martens brand… and know how to seriously rock a pair of Docs of course.
Meet Salome, singer and assistant manager at our new Maastricht store. We spoke with her to find out more about her relationship with Dr. Martens, music and what she’s listening to…
Introduce yourself:
My name is Salóme Pieris, I was born and raised in Houten, Utrecht, and have roots in the Moluccan Islands, Indonesia. I now live in Geleen with my boyfriend and I’m the Assistant Store Manager of Dr. Martens in Maastricht.
I also love singing, I’ve sung since I was 5 years old and have never stopped. I still perform with my dad at events or in churches, where it all began. One day I want to make it my job. How amazing would that be? I really love old-school Soul, RnB, Gospel and of course Indonesian songs.
What Dr. Martens products are you wearing in your photo?
I am wearing my favourites, the 1461 Bex shoe. I really love the platform and I am a fan of the fine leather.
Tell us about your first pair of Dr. Martens:
My first pair was the 1460 boots in black. I bought them when I worked at Invito in Utrecht and still wear them the most because they’re so comfy and go with anything. Right now I own 9 pairs, and DEFINITELY still counting.
How would you describe your style?
I love black. I wear skinny jeans or flared pants with a big sweater or long shirt.
Name three tracks you can’t get enough of:
1. Bruno Mars – 24K Magic
2. JMAC – Me & You
3. Anything – William Singe
What’s your favourite thing about the city you live in?
I have just moved to Limburg so I don’t know anything specific, but in Utrecht I really love the Vietnamese food. Almost every Thursday I go to Kimmade in Mariastraat, it’s such amazing food. I love to hang out with my girls and have some drinks in the city. No specific spot, just chill, drink, hang out and talk.
What are your top three product picks?
1 The Masha creeper boot – I love the platform and the point of this shoe. It’s old-school.
2 The 1460 boots in black – they’re basic, comfy and go with anything.
3 The 1461 Bex shoe – it’s also the platform that makes me fall in love with these shoes.
And finally, what do you stand for?
Believe in anything you do.
