WE KICKED OFF OUR 2019 DIY DOCS TOUR WITH A HUGE PARTY

It’s no secret: customizing your Docs is an art form. Fans have been personalizing their Docs for as long as we’ve been making them — with everything from patches, chains and studs to paint pens. We took it one step further: we commissioned some of our favorite artists to visit our New York and LA stores for an exclusive day of customization. The tour lasts through the end of March — so to celebrate, we threw a kickoff party at the Zebulon in LA’s Silver Lake, featuring a bumpin set by Duckwrth while a wide variety of Docs got the DIY treatment. Like: on-the-fly embroidery by stitching collective Chain Gang, decoration by jeweler Dadybones and graffiti by the artist known as Muckrock. Keep scrolling for some photo documentation of the evening…

NY and LA-based graffiti artist Muckrock doing her thing at her station.

A true artists’ workspace…

A fan waits patiently while Muckrock does her thing.

Shoutout to Chain Gang, a stitching collective out here putting the edge back into embroidery.

One of the Chain Gang shows off his creation: a single palm tree popping against a pair of 1460 Smooths.

Even some hats and totes got the Chain Gang treatment.

Dadybones served up freestyle Docs embellishment, with her cool snack-based jewelry.

We can definitely get behind a pair of 1460s with a Fruit Loop chain.

Jadons were a strong theme throughout the evening.

Then, Duckwrth got up on stage and brought the party to the next level, with his signature mix of sick beats and clever rhymes. And while listening to his sound is a serious treat, catching him live is truly an unforgettable experience.

In fact, Duckwrth was the ideal act to play the Customization tour kickoff, since he’s also an illustrator and graphic designer — and happily wore his own personalized Docs on stage.

Customization events will continue throughout the month — so if you’re in LA or New York, don’t miss the next one! Keep on top of the schedule right here.
