If you know Dr. Martens, then you know this: we stand for diversity, empowerment and rebelliousness. We don’t care what you do— we just want you to be authentically, 100% yourself. Individuality is what makes the world go round, and we’re here to help make that happen.
In the United States, June is Pride month — a time to celebrate the people of the LGBTQ+ community, honour their equality and remember the Stonewall Riots of 1969. This year, we’re commemorating the month with two special-edition Pride Boots — a couple of bright pairs inspired by the diversity of the rainbow flag and the LGBTQ+ community itself, with a portion of boot sales supporting The Trevor Project. But if you’re not sure how to rock the intense colours, never fear: our San Francisco Market store crew has some ideas. Check out these three wildly different looks — and let us how you end up wearing yours using hashtag #drmartensstyle.
VERONICA BARON FONSECA
I chose this outfit because this is how I would typically dress and I don’t really put in the effort to match. The pride boots have our brand culture of ‘not giving a damn’ and are perfect for Pride or going out to art shows. I like how loud the Pride boots are and what they symbolise; Freedom, and rebellion.
I tied my laces around my boots to keep the tag down and under my pants. I was going for a prideful theme. I love to mess around with colours so I wore some bright colours on my clothes, face and hair. I’d wear this outfit on a nice walk in San Francisco and to make a monotone outfit more outrageous. I like that these Pride boots have a clear sole and lots of colour on them.
I’m wearing all-black so that the Pride boots stand out more and are the centrepiece of my outfit. I decided to also add in a headband with bat wings on them to give the outfit more flare and a creepy spin. Who says rainbow can’t be paired with a darker aesthetic?
The pride boots, with their fun rainbow design, just scream “PRIDE”… and that’s why they’re perfect.
