How did you get your big break?
It all started in 2012 when I started on BBC [school-based drama] Waterloo Road. I’d studied music and drama at GSCE and A-Level but hadn’t had any acting experience. I got flown to Glasgow to audition – it was crazy, being part of something I’d grown up watching on TV.
What have been your career highlights so far?
Don’t let others bring you down, you need to believe in yourself, because no one else can do that
Do you have any advice for people wanting to break into music or acting?
Have a thick skin. Don’t let others bring you down, you need to believe in yourself, because no one else can do that.
Style is a huge aspect of music – people take notice of you if you’re dressed in a unique way.
